Medan, August 7, 2026 — The Directorate of Quality Assurance at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a socialization session on the Excellent Accreditation Instruments of the Independent Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Agricultural Sciences (LAM PTIP).
Held at the Video Conference Room of the USU Rectorate Bureau, the event featured two expert speakers, Dr. Ir. Samsuri, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM., and Prof. Dr. Drs. Jonner Hasugian, M.Si., who provided an in-depth discussion on the standards and procedures for achieving excellent accreditation for study programs in the field of agricultural sciences.
The socialization aimed to enhance study program administrators’ understanding of the importance of excellent accreditation as an indicator of higher education quality that exceeds the National Higher Education Standards (SN Dikti).
Dr. Ir. Samsuri stated, “Excellent accreditation is not merely about meeting the National Higher Education Standards, but about going beyond them by emphasizing the quality, relevance, and tangible impact of a study program.” He further explained that LAM PTIP has established accreditation instruments based on four main criteria: Quality Culture, Relevance, Accountability, and Mission Differentiation (CRAM). These instruments are designed to ensure sustainable educational quality, relevance to the needs of industry and society, and positive impact.
From a policy perspective, Prof. Dr. Drs. Jonner Hasugian emphasized that, “The current accreditation status of study programs consists of three categories: Not Accredited, Accredited, and Excellent Accredited. The target of the USU Strategic Plan (Renstra) 2025–2029 is for all study programs, except newly established programs, to achieve Excellent Accreditation. Accreditation is the responsibility of the study program and UPPS, with Deans and Heads of Study Programs serving as the primary actors.”
Through this socialization, all study programs in the field of agricultural sciences at USU are expected to make optimal preparations to achieve Excellent Accreditation status, demonstrating their commitment to delivering higher education of outstanding quality, meaningful impact, and sustainability.
