MEDAN — The Directorate of Quality Assurance of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Socialization Session on Study Program Accreditation Instruments (IAPS) under the Scope of the Independent Accreditation Agency for Engineering (LAMTeknik) on Tuesday (11/8/2026), in the Video Conference Room, 4th Floor of the USU Rectorate Building. The event was attended by faculty leaders, heads of study programs, and quality assurance administrators from engineering disciplines across USU.
The event was officially opened by Prof. Setiawan, S.Kp., MNS., Ph.D., Acting Director of the USU Directorate of Quality Assurance, who also delivered introductory remarks on the importance of building and strengthening a sustainable quality culture across all study programs. Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Drs. Jonner Hasugian, M.Si., USU Manager of National Accreditation, emphasized the importance of study programs being prepared to meet the criteria and standards for Unggul accreditation.
In the main session, speaker Dr. Ing. Ir. Ikhwansyah Isranuri presented material on LAMTeknik Regulation No. 6 of 2025 concerning Accreditation Instruments for Study Programs Seeking an Unggul Rating. He emphasized the importance of consistently documenting and maintaining records of all tridharma activities to achieve the highest possible scores in the accreditation assessment process.
In addition to discussing assessment strategies, the presentation covered several distinctive features of the LAMTeknik instruments, including an emphasis on Basic Science and Mathematics courses, the implementation of Capstone Design, laboratory eligibility standards, and the application of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (K3L).
Study program curricula were also encouraged to align Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL) with engineering competency standards, which combine engineering knowledge, engineering analysis and skills, and professional conduct required to solve complex problems. This includes incorporating engineering design concepts, the ability to adapt to new technologies, teamwork and communication skills, and professional ethics.
Through this socialization session, Universitas Sumatera Utara reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the quality assurance system across all study programs in engineering disciplines, with the aim of achieving Unggul accreditation standards at both the national and international levels.
