MEDAN, August 5, 2026 — As part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining the quality of higher education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a strategic forum titled “Strengthening the Role of Work Units in Higher Education Accreditation” at the Academic Senate Meeting Room on the third floor of the USU Rectorate Building.

The event outlined the university’s key measures and strategies for maintaining its Excellent accreditation status through consistent internal quality standards and strengthened data governance.

USU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., emphasized that accreditation is no longer merely a matter of periodically fulfilling administrative requirements, but rather a part of the institution’s everyday work culture.

“Accreditation is not merely about fulfilling regulatory requirements. It is about how, day by day, week by week, and month by month, we ensure that all the work we do continues to meet quality standards,” Prof. Poppy emphasized.

To ensure institutional readiness, USU is implementing three key strategies:

  1. Alignment of Understanding and Integration of Roles: Encouraging all directorates, faculties, and study programs to collectively share responsibilities in preparing accreditation documents, rather than placing the responsibility solely on the Quality Assurance Directorate.
  2. PDDikti-Based Data Accuracy: Establishing the Higher Education Database (PDDikti) as the primary reference for all institutional performance data. According to Prof. Dr. Slamet Wahyudi, S.T., M.T., a member of the Executive Board of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) who attended as a resource person, the accuracy and completeness of data uploaded each semester are key factors in the assessment process.
  3. Strengthening Internal Quality Audits (AMI): Improving the effectiveness of periodic internal audits in line with the indicators of the latest accreditation instruments to identify and address shortcomings at an early stage.

Through synergy among its work units and robust data governance, Universitas Sumatera Utara remains optimistic that it can continue to uphold the highest quality standards and further strengthen its position as one of Indonesia’s leading higher education institutions.
